About us

Engineers who show their working

Roro Technology Ltd. is a Nigerian gas engineering company. We convert diesel engines — generators and trucks — to run on natural gas, we build CNG and LNG plants as EPC contracts, and we supply gas-powered equipment. What ties it together is that every job starts with numbers the client can check.

Who we are

What we do and why

Nigerian businesses run on generators, and generators run on diesel at around ₦1,700 a litre. For a hotel, a factory, a hospital or an estate, that single line item can dwarf every other operating cost.

Compressed natural gas costs roughly a fifth as much for the same energy. The obstacle has never been the arithmetic — it is that swapping fuel on a compression-ignition engine is genuine engineering work, and that gas is not piped to most Nigerian addresses. Both problems have solutions, and both are what we do.

We fit European-manufactured pilot-ignited dual-fuel kits to existing diesel generating sets and to truck fleets, and we design and fabricate the mobile cylinder cascades that supply them with gas — cascades on wheeled carts that any vehicle can tow to a filling station, so a client without a gas pipeline is not excluded.

Where a client needs the infrastructure rather than a single conversion, we take on CNG and LNG plants as EPC contracts — engineering, procurement and construction under one agreement. And where converting an existing asset is not the right answer, we supply generating sets and trucks that run on gas from the factory.

We sell equipment, so it is fair to ask whether that colours our advice. Our answer is the same one we have always given: the written analysis comes first, it shows its workings, and it will tell you to keep your existing engine when keeping it is the cheaper answer. A retrofit is usually the smaller invoice, and we still recommend it.

How we work

Four commitments we hold ourselves to

The dual-fuel market has a reputation problem, largely built on savings claims that do not survive contact with a real duty cycle. These are the standards we set against that.

Analysis before quotation

Every client receives a written technical and financial analysis of their own generating set before any conversion is quoted. It shows the workings, so the arithmetic can be checked independently. If the numbers do not justify a conversion on your duty cycle, we say so.

Conservative substitution targets

We target generating sets below 100 kVA at a 50/50 CNG/diesel duty-cycle average rather than quoting 70/30 across the board, because smaller engines do not sustain the higher figure in real service. We would rather under-promise and be held to it.

The risks in writing

Power derate of roughly 3–8%, OEM warranty implications, injection-system compatibility, gas quality requirements and methane slip all appear in our analyses. A supplier who mentions none of them is not giving you the full picture.

Verification after commissioning

We record the substitution ratio actually achieved at commissioning and benchmark it against the target in your analysis. That is what turns a projection into an accountable figure.

Track record

Over a thousand conversions behind us

Experience in this field is not a claim, it is a count. Ours is measured in vehicles and generating sets that are running on gas today, in stations built from bare ground, and in an engineering team that stays on after commissioning.

A full engineering team, in house

Mechanical, process, electrical and controls engineering all sit inside the company. We do not subcontract the thinking. The people who write your analysis are the people who calibrate the kit and return for the service visit, which is why a question about your report never has to travel through three companies to reach somebody who can answer it.

We build stations from bare ground

Civils, compression, storage, dispensing, piping, electrical and controls — a CNG or LNG station delivered as one EPC contract from an empty plot to a commissioned facility. Very few firms in Nigeria can convert the vehicle and build the station that fuels it. It means we can solve the refuelling problem instead of pointing at it.

One company, seven divisions

Roro Technologies Ltd. (RC 7004608) is a single legal entity. We organise the work into divisions rather than separate companies, so a client who needs more than one — a conversion and the fuel behind it, say — is served by one team, not handed between two.

Consultancy & Advisory

Feasibility studies, fleet transition planning and owner's-engineer support before any equipment is bought.

Car CNG Conversion

Bi-fuel conversion for petrol cars and SUVs — V4, V6 and V8 — running on gas with petrol as the backup.

Truck & Generator CNG Conversion

Dual-fuel retrofits for diesel truck fleets and generating sets, with a pilot diesel charge retained.

CNG & LNG EPC Construction

Stations built from bare ground as one EPC contract — civils, compression, storage, dispensing, controls.

Equipment Supply

CNG and LNG generating sets, cascades and skids, NGV cylinders, conversion kits and station process equipment.

Control & Automation

Industrial control panels, generator synchronisation and SCADA for the plants and gensets we build and convert.

Energies

The gas-supply side of the business — CNG and LNG plant development, fuel logistics and vehicle fleet operations. Kept on its own social account for continuity with followers who found us there first.

Capability

What we work on

  • Compression-ignition gensets built to ISO 8528 — Cummins, Perkins, Weichai, Mikano, Marapco and others.
  • Both mechanical and electronic injection systems, subject to controller compatibility confirmed at survey.
  • Trucks, tippers, tankers and haulage fleets — the same pilot-ignition conversion applied to vehicle engines, with cylinder capacity sized to the routes actually run.
  • Single and multi-set sites, including shared cascades feeding more than one generating set.
  • CNG and LNG plants as EPC contracts — mother and daughter stations, regasification, and captive plants serving a single site.
  • Gas generating sets and trucks supplied new where a purpose-built asset beats converting an old one.
  • Control panels, transfer switches, synchronisation and SCADA — built in house, so what we install can be measured rather than assumed.
  • Cascade design and fabrication — mobile skids, carts, manifolds and gas trains, engineered in house.
  • Sets from roughly 40 kVA upwards, with the substitution target matched to the set’s size.

Basis of our work

The standards and conventions we apply

ConventionWhat we applyWhy
Rating basisPrime / continuous (PRP or S1) rating, never standbyStandby ratings overstate what a set can deliver continuously, which would overstate fuel burn and therefore savings.
Energy equivalence1 litre diesel ≈ 1 SCM CNGPuts both fuels on a common energy basis and matches the convention dual-fuel kit suppliers quote against.
Substitution target50/50 below 100 kVA; 70/30 at or aboveSmaller engines cannot sustain a 70% average across a real duty cycle. Targeting them conservatively keeps the projection honest.
Operating assumption30 days/month, 365 days/yearA transparent, easily checked basis — you can rescale it to your own running pattern.
VAT7.5% shown separately on every quotationNigerian standard rate. Quoting VAT-inclusive totals without showing the split obscures the actual price.
